Canon Digital Pocket Cameras

I’ll be flying in a couple of weeks. I love flying and am an aviation enthusiast. I like to take pictures and film some video while flying. Here’s my dilemma. I am not sure if the digital camera I have now is good enough for such an activity. My camera is a Canon PowerShot SD850 IS Digital ELPH 8.0 Mega Pixels.

Basically, I would like a pocket size digital camera that’s HD and can take superior pictures/ video during the day and night while flying. When I say superior, I mean being able to take a picture and have it come out crystal clear and being able to take a video without any muffled noises in the background. Oh yes, and especially being able to have great pictures/ video during the night too.

If there are any camera experts here, could you please confirm whether or not the Canon camera I have now is good enough for such an activity? Also, could you please suggest me a really good digital camera like I described that I’d like. The more choices the better.

There’s probably hundreds if not thousands of cameras that are fine for use in an airplane. Ask a qualified camera store expert who can advise you which cameras are best to use in low-level lighting and the other parameters you require.

I really love Sony MHS-PM5 bloggie HD Video Camera. I take it everywhere with me. To have both a camera and a video gives me the option to use either without having to switch from one device to another and not having to carry both a camera and a video camera makes this a big plus for me. I take a lot of pictures of my children in school and just about everywhere. I would definitely recommend this to anyone.Video quality is quite nice, with deep, vibrant colors and amazing detail. One of two small gripes would be that this unit has a digital zoom, which is a bit ‘choppy’. Sony needs to work on improving the fluidity of this digital zoom. In addition, it is difficult to view anything on the screen at times in typical bright sunlight, which is frustrating. I wish the screen were brighter.
