How much should I charge to photograph a high school reunion?

My brother in law invited my husband and I to his class reunion as guests. After the invitation, he asked me if I would photograph the event for the reunion committee, knowing that I take good photos. They will hire me and pay me for memory cards or any other supplies I need. They asked me to make up an invoice. What should I charge per hour to do this job? I have a Canon digital camera with 8 megapixels, probably considered a pocket camera.

If you have a "pocket camera" aka a point and shoot then you really shouldn’t be charging anything to shoot the event. You’ll pretty much get the same results as someone else using the same kind of camera.

If you don’t have a DSLR or access to one then pass on this, please.

sony camera or canon?

my digital camera is a little over 3 years old now, and the picture quality isn’t as great when i upload the pictures to my computer.

the 1st camera i really like is the Sony DSC H20. i like the zoom and how it doesn’t look like a regular point and shoot camera. but it isn’t a slr.

the 2nd camera is the Canon SD 780 IS. i like that it’s 12.1 megapixels and it’s pretty small so i can easily put it in my pocket.

and i’m thinking of getting a slr camera, too. but it costs more and it’s too bulky to carry around everyday.

I have a colleague that bought a "SD" model Canon about a year and half ago and he has been thrilled with it. The SD models seem to have a very solid feel.

Best Digital Camera for a 16 year old?

I am majoring in art, and currently own a Nikon D60. I love it. But I realized it’s not the best for carrying around to the mall, parties, park etc. So I was planning on buying a pocket camera for my up coming birthday.

I’ll probably use it for taking pictures of friends and also macro and landscape shots.
I want a camera that can deliever high quality like an SLR camera. (close to it)
- OPTICAL ZOOM must be included.
for looks: I want a small and silk looking camera so Im able to carry it in my pouch.

Brands are not a matter:
Nikon - landscape, nature, scenery
Canon - portraits, macro
Sony - built for teens, but mostly average on all subjects. (macro, nature etc)
- I would strongly want a camera which can perform all of these.
Is there any recommendations for which camera is the best in my situation?
as well as those cameras i should stay away from?

you can consider buying
Panasonic Lumix DMC-ZS3 10.1 MP Digital Camera with 12x Wide Angle MEGA Optical Image Stabilized Zoom and 3 inch LCD - Capture HD video in "AVCHD Lite" format
