how to make flash diffuser for canon G9?

how to i obtain a homemade flash diffuser for my Canon Powershot G9 camera ?

If you have an external flash plugged into the hotshoe, diffusers are cheap and easily obtained or home made.

The built in flash would be tougher. You need to get some translucent white plastic and cover the flash. For a one time use, try a section of white trash bag or even a piece of white plastic grocery bag.

You are trying to spread the light out and make the flash "appear" to come from a large diffuse source rather than a strong point source.

The fun thing is that test shots cost nothing except a few electrons <g>

If you mean the built in flash, I have a very cute solution.

Buy a ping pong (table tennis) ball or some toy plastic golf balls.

Cut out a slot and slip it over the flash.

It costs you a fair amount of light, but it does soften it.
