Can the Canon Powershot G9 be used as a webcam?
if so how? cheers.
I don't know if it can be used as one or not. But why not just go to the store, spend like $30, and get yourself a web cam? Ok, maybe some cost more than that, but you can stil get a decent one for a good price!
It can if it has a setting that shows a video camera. However they usually are limited as the length of video by the amount of memory that is available.

I'm sure you can remote control the shutter via the Canon software which turn it into a quasi-webcam.
However, I don't believe it can work like a true Webcam since it need to run through the it's own software before you can view any live image. Beside the data stream will be so large that the IM/VC software might not able to handle it.
Why not just buy a good webcam instead?
