Which camera should I buy?

I’m looking at two different digital cameras to buy.

The first camera I’m looking at is the Canon Powershot SD1200, which is basically the next camera up from the SD1100 that I currently have.

The other camera is the Sony Cybershot TX1.

I want a camera that can take good pictures indoors and at night, and also has a decent video setting with audio.

I would recommend you buying
Sony Cyber-shot DSC-TX1/H 10MP "Exmor R" CMOS Digital Camera
# 10.2-megapixel "Exmor R" CMOS sensor for stunning low-light performance
# 3-inch touch-screen LCD display for easy operation
# Carl Zeiss Vario-Tessar lens with 4x optical zoom; Optical SteadyShot image stabilization
# Wide zoom display allows resizing images to 16:9 aspect ratio
# Capture your videos in HD Movie mode (720p);

Canon Powershot G9 lens issue?

I’m having an issue with my G9. I can’t see anything through the LCD, and when I take a picture, it comes out blank/black. All of the settings show on the LCD, along with all of the previous pictures that are on the memory card, so I know that it is not an issue with the LCD itself. I’ve reset the entire camera to try to remove any old settings that might have accidentally taken effect, but that didn’t make any difference. Anyone know what might be going on? Thanks in advance!

Sounds like a CCD or CMOS failure. CCDs and CMOS are the eye of the camera, this component may have failed or the connectors became damaged.

Fairly expensive repair if this is the case, and as the screen is still working for other functions, it points to that…

Check the control dial isn’t set to manual and small aperture/fast shutter/low iso combo, switch it to p mode or Av mode and see how it goes.

Unfortunately it does sound like the image device is goosed which isn’t good or cheap news I’m afraid.

Canon Powershot G9 possibility question?

what settings are best to use on this camera to take action shots of basketball players inside a gym?

my shots are coming out blurry w/o flash but the lighting is good.

on the other hand, with flash the picture is dark however not blurry.

how do i make a great lighting picture and no blurry pic with this camera?

Your G9 has one thing that most point and shoot cameras do not… a hot shoe. Your built-in flash is not powerful enough for what you are doing, get a shoe-mount flash and things will improve slightly. A basketball court is a very large area to try and light with a small on-camera flash… you need all the power you can get. And lots of batteries, because you are going to use a lot of them.

All Canon EX flashes, or any brand that has a Canon E-TTL model, will work on your G9.
